Located 2.6 km E of Fairvale and 4.53 km NE of Rothesay: Rothesay Parish, Kings County: William Francis Ganong identified Quispamsis as a derivative of the Maliseet word Quispemsis or "Little lake": named by European and North American Railway staff: formerly called Lakefield: in 1866 Lakefield was a farming community with approximately 20 resident families: nearby was Lakefield Road: in 1866 Lakefield Road was a farming settlement with approximately 5 resident families: PO Quispamsis 1883-1930: in 1898 Quispamsis was a station on the Intercolonial Railway and a farming community with 1 post office, 1 church and a population of 110: included the community of Otty Glen: PO Otty Glen 1911-1930: also included Blairs, Gondola Point Road, Meehans or Meenans Corner, Model Farm, Ritchie Lake, Stoneycroft and Wetmore's: Quispamsis was incorporated as a village in 1966 and in 1998 amalgamated with the former village of Gondola Point and a portion of the area formerly known as Wells to form the town of Quispamsis.
